Peter
Vogt and Pamela Braun
Founders of
Campus Career Counselor
| Peter
Vogt, M.S.
has counseled hundreds of college students and recent graduates
from diverse backgrounds, helping them with a wide range of
career planning concerns – everything from learning about themselves
and investigating career possibilities to choosing a college
major and landing a satisfying job after graduation. |
|
Through
his work as a college career counselor – at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater;
Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin; and now in private practice
in the Twin Cities – Peter has developed a helping philosophy that
encourages students and recent grads to explore their abundant career
possibilities and challenge the limiting beliefs, assumptions, and
perceptions they often have about themselves and the world of work.
Peter
now devotes much of his time to writing about college students and
their career concerns. His articles have appeared in such publications
as National Business Employment Weekly, Managing Your
Career, and CollegeJournal.com and CareerJournal.com (both produced
by The Wall Street Journal). He is also “The MonsterTRAK
Coach” for MonsterTRAK, the college student/recent graduate community
of online career site Monster; and author of the forthcoming book
Career Wisdom for College Students, to be published in
March 2007 by Facts On File.
With
a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater
and 13 years of real-world business experience in the publishing
field, Peter specializes in working with students who feel confused,
overwhelmed, or just plain scared when it comes to their career
development – just as he was as a “lost in the wilderness” journalism
student at Minnesota State University Moorhead from 1985 to 1990.
| Pamela
Braun, M.A.
has extensive experience assisting liberal arts students/alums
in finding career paths to match their skills and talents. Holding
a master's degree in counseling and psychological services (St.
Mary's University of Minnesota, 1999) and a bachelor's degree
in elementary education (Mount Saint Mary College-Newburgh,
NY, 1994), Pamela counsels students and recent graduates. |
|
While
finishing her graduate degree, Pamela completed her master's practicum
by assisting a diverse student population at Macalester College
(St. Paul, MN), a well-known liberal arts institution noted for
its academic excellence. In addition, Pamela has worked at the Office
for Special Learning Opportunities (now the Career and Community
Learning Center) in the College of Liberal Arts at the University
of Minnesota, where she advised and counseled CLA and other University
of Minnesota students.
As
a career counseling professional, Pamela is very involved in organizations
that allow her to track employment trends and keep current on what
employers are looking for in candidates. Her current involvement
includes the following: Minnesota
College and University Career Services Association (co-chair
of the programming committee); Minnesota
Career Development Association (board member and editor
of the Communiqué quarterly newsletter); and the Minnesota
Association of Colleges and Employers (member).
Extremely
interested in Carl Jung's personality typology and its effect on
the career process, Pamela is currently co-authoring a series of
forthcoming books geared to the introverted job seeker.
"If
we can really understand the problem, the answer will come out of
it, because the answer is not separate from the problem.
